Vertical dotted lines indicate the discrimination threshold of one JND. At values below 1, individual chromatic and achromatic cues cannot be distinguished. Permutational multivariate analyses of variance (PERMANOVAs) were used to test whether or not differences between sexes were greater than within sexes.
